What is Astrology?

There are many ways to understand astrology, and here I offer some of my personal perspectives.

Astrology and Astronomy: A Historical Perspective
First, it’s important to distinguish between astrology and astronomy. This distinction wasn’t always present. In ancient times, cultures around the world fused both fields because people were deeply connected to the laws of nature. Without the distractions and unnatural stimuli of modern life, they respected and honored nature through rituals and practices that kept them attuned to cosmic rhythms.

Today, astronomy has forgotten some of its roots and transformed into a purely scientific discipline. It remains beautiful in its exploration of celestial phenomena, but it tends to approach these phenomena from an intellectual standpoint, sometimes limited by scientific skepticism.

Astrology
Astrology builds on the knowledge of astronomy, elevating it to another level. It explores how celestial cycles, movements, and alignments influence individuals and societies. Just as both astronomers and astrologers acknowledge that the moon’s gravitational pull affects ocean tides, astrologers are also able to recognize how this affects us personally as we are more than 70% water so the moons influence affects us just like it affects the ocean which brings emotional shifts connected to the moon. However, as modern life has distanced us from nature, many people are no longer aware of these subtle influences.

Just like this example of the moon there are many other factors: the magnetic field, the gravity and so much more, so this same principle extends beyond the moon to other planets, asteroids and celestial points used in astrology. Each has its own influence, impacting all areas of our lives—emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual. By understanding these cycles, we can align with them and use the energies they offer to live more fulfilling lives, uncover our purpose, and achieve deeper personal growth.

Astrology: A Tool for Personal and Collective Evolution
Astrology allows us to understand life’s patterns more profoundly, including natural cycles, planetary events, and our personal experiences. It offers insights that can help us evolve to higher levels of consciousness and achieve both material and spiritual success. When practiced with depth and balance, astrology has the potential to guide us toward enlightenment by harmonizing our lives with the rhythms of the cosmos.
